Andrew Goodwin's Theory:
Goodwin states there are 5 elements that are commonly found in music videos, that lead to them being successful in demonstrating an ideology while also promoting the star.
Richard Dyer's Star Theory:
In order to create a star, Dyer argues that there are 3 main things that must happen.
- The star must be constructed, creating their own, individual persona.
- The star must appeal as a commodity - a product that their audiences is interested in and buys from.
- The star must present an ideology that they reinforce through their persona.
However, this creates a paradox where the star must be relatable but also extraordinary, present and also absent within their fans' lives.
